It finally feels like spring and everyone here at the Center has been enjoying the sun and mild temperatures! We have been playing outside as much as possible and all the students are loving it. With more outside play, please be sure to dress your child appropriately- no flip flops or sandals without backs (tennis shoes are preferred), shorts under skirts or dresses, and layers. All of our classrooms can always use donations of baby wipes and tissues- the mulch is wonderful at protecting against injuries, but it does leave some dirt!
Our classes have been having a great time this month with their weekly themes. Everyone enjoyed St. Patrick's Day and the green surprises the leprechauns brought. The Twos' Room had a great time learning about the solar system with their outer space theme. They even got to sample astronaut ice cream and watch a video of a space shuttle blasting off! The Giraffes have been busy learning about how the month of March comes "in like a lion" and goes "out like a lamb" and finding "shapes, shapes, and more shapes" in the world around them. Dinosaurs abound in our Pre-K class and they are learning all about paleontologists, fossils, and the different species of dinosaurs.
Please mark your calendars: the Center will be CLOSED on Friday, April 22nd, 2011, in observance of Good Friday. This falls at the end of Kanawha County Schools' Spring Break. For our school-age students, Spring Break activities and field trips will be announced shortly!
